Bird Suet Recipe

It's getting to that season again of making sure our feathered friends have their needs met to get them thru the winter.

Here is my post of last year when I was co host with my daughter from






  Prosecco and Polka Dots   now called Mom in Progress with the recipe for suet cakes.


I have done an experiment putting out the store brand  and this homemade one.



 
The homemade ones always get eaten down to the proverbial nubbins whereas the store ones although eventually get eaten take a wee bit longer.

I usually have a Feral Station in the front or side of my house out of the elements.

I put out hard food for them cuz the canned stuff just freezes solid. I also put small water station out for them too. I have an extra bird bath water heater so it keeps the water flowing for them. however I am not sure I will be doing it this year :-(   We have new neighbours in the neighbourhood and they have 5 !! 5 !! cats who all are outside.  I guess I will just have to see if they are out during the winter. It will be quite a dilemma for me as I see the little ferals crouched in the snow and my heart breaks for them. suspect knowing me I will set the station up anyway. My two lil ladies on my side bar are wee ferals that I rescued 15 years ago.....

Mouse House

HB and I were supposed to visit the Mouse House (aka Deb at  Just Cats  ) today.


Go for a walk . Have some tea. Have some cookies.
Visit with Sierra, Annie, Audrey, and Kane.  Have lots of chatting.
Well unfortunately dear Deb has come down with a horrible flu so no visit today.

Legwarmers for Miss D

It seems like all of a sudden our hot and humid summer here in Ontario is gone..
We are steam rolling into cooler temps
Not cold enough for snow suits but certainly cold enough for legwarmers
My daughter Siobhan @  Mom in Progress  likes to go for her 5K walks every morning and now that it IS cooler asked me if I could make Miss D leg warmers "Why of course I can"
I picked up a terrific Berocco Chunky in grape at our local Wool Grower's and got to work
And here is the finished project

The pattern couldn't be simpler
And I found it here @  Never Not Knitting
I did make up my own pattern for this one.
I may have to whip up another pair .....

Halloween has Begun @ 44

Every year I say the same thing and every year I get caught up.....
No More Halloween decorating for zAzA
Well as you can see ......

Of course it isn't quite as much as when my girls were kids
Graveyards. Haunted pianos. Ghouls hanging from plant hooks. Witches fingers.
 Spider webs EVERYWHERE!!! Skeletons draped in the gardens. Lots of pumpkins.
There was no stopping us.
I am a wee bit more tame at least right now.
Who knows what will happen as grand children get older.
I made Halloween cookies to send to my wee ones Miles and Riley in Alberta

 and of course a few for Miss D.

Hi I'm Back ----- Are you All Still There?

Well Hello everyone ..
I am back after a 10 month experiment of co hosting a blog with my daughter.  

It was a fun but I just could not commit myself to it.
I think partly because I and Siobhan like control so you can imagine having two people who like it "their way" something had to give.
It was a fun experience.
But ...
I admit I am excited to get back to zAzA's corner ----- it needs a bit of dusting off but it will be nice to set it all back up again.
I hope you will come visit again and see what I am up to.
